Jing Dunquan, Vice Chairperson of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), held talks with Japanese Ambassador to China Kenji Kanasugi over friendly civil exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in Beijing on the afternoon of April 18.

Jing extended congratulations to Kanasugi on assuming office as Japanese Ambassador to China. Noting that it is a critical time for China and Japan to further improve their bilateral relations, he called on the two countries to follow the trend of the times, grasp the positive development direction, and thoroughly implement the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during their meeting in San Francisco last November.

Jing said that CSCLF is willing to engage in people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in terms of youths, culture and charity, consolidate the foundation for civil exchanges and cooperation, strive for and make contributions to the development of constructive and stable China-Japan relations that match new conditions in the new era.

Kanasugi expressed his thanks to CSCLF for its consistent efforts in promoting the exchanges between youths of the two countries, enhancing mutual understanding and trust, and strengthening the bond between people of the two countries. He said that Japan and China are friendly neighbors across the sea and that the two countries have worked hard to promote bilateral sustainable development in economy, culture and youth exchanges.

Kanasugi added that the Japanese embassy looks forward to working closely with CSCLF in further advancing the friendly relations between the two countries and expanding bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

Prior to the meeting, Kanasugi paid a visit to China Soong Ching Ling Youth Science and Culture Exchange Center.
