Honorary council member Liu Dunren donates documentary materials to CSCLF

A ceremony was held on May 27 to mark the donation of documentary materials to the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) by Liu Dunren, an honorary council member of the foundation. The event took place via video link between the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China and the Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling in Beijing. Shen Beili, secretary of the Party leadership group and vice chairman of the CSCLF, Li Anjin, deputy secretary general of the CSCLF and director of the Soong Ching Ling Former Residence Management Center, and Yang Shu, consul general of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, attended the donation ceremony.

Shen reiterated the foundation's unwavering commitment to advancing Madame Soong Ching Ling's lifelong pursuit of promoting international friendship and upholding global peace. She highlighted the invaluable support and genuine concern that Mr. Liu Dunren, an honorary council member, has consistently provided for the foundation's growth and development. Shen commended Liu as a respected and cherished friend of the foundation, acknowledging his valuable contribution to fostering people-to-people exchanges between China and Canada.

Emphasizing the historical and scholarly significance of the donated documentary materials, including the records of the meeting between Deng Xiaoping and Herbert W. Armstrong, Shen emphasized their profound importance to the foundation. Shen assured that the foundation will utilize these invaluable resources effectively, enabling young individuals to gain profound insights and spiritual inspiration while exploring the remarkable achievements of revered leaders.

During the ceremony, Liu said that he had personally witnessed a momentous historical event in 1984 when Mr. Deng Xiaoping met with Mr. Armstrong, the Chairman of the U.S.-based Ambassador Foundation. As the guardian of certain documents related to this remarkable meeting, Liu expressed his generous intent to donate these valuable documentary materials to the foundation with the aim of maximizing their impact and value.

On behalf of the CSCLF, Yang Shu accepted the documentary materials and presented Honorary Council Member Liu Dunren with a donation certificate. In his speech, Yang expressed the hope for enhancing communication and collaboration with the foundation, so as to contribute to the promotion of youth exchange and friendship between China and Canada.

Chen Aimin, director of the CSCLF General Office, Gao Jianrong, deputy director of the CSCLF General Office, Hu Tanglin, deputy director of Soong Ching Ling Former Residence Management Center, and Chen Qingjie, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office at the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, attended the donation ceremony.
