A roundtable focusing on the youth's needs for public welfare in the new era was held on May 18 at the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People (CSCLSCCYP). The event was jointly organized by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and the China Philanthropy Research Institute of Beijing Normal University (BNU). Jing Dunquan, member of the Party leadership group and vice chairman of the CSCLF, delivered a speech at the roundtable. The event was attended by over 50 participants, including leaders from more than 10 influential foundations such as Tencent Charity Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy, as well as experts in the field of youth research.

Jing highlighted that 2023 commemorates the 130th birth anniversary of Soong Ching Ling, emphasizing the efforts of the CSCLF in establishing a public welfare brand "10+1" and initiating a three-year action plan to foster the well-being and development of young people. He further expressed the CSCLF's intention to collaborate with other foundations in facilitating the comprehensive growth and contributing to the high-quality advancement of public welfare in the new era.

During their keynote speeches, professor Lu Shizhen, former Party secretary of the China Youth University of Political Studies (CYUPS) and honorary council member of the CSCLF, talked about the needs of youth and the trend of public welfare in the new era, and Zhang Liu, assistant dean of the China Philanthropy Research Institute at BNU, gave insights into the new trends and opportunities in the development of children's policies.

At the roundtable, the 11 foundation leaders introduced their respective concepts, key programs and plans for the future and gave full recognition to the CSCLF's work on public welfare. They also shared experience and new thoughts on how to innovate youth public welfare programs in the new era.

In his concluding remarks, Wang Zhenyao, chairman of the China Philanthropy Research Institute at BNU, expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful outcomes of the roundtable. He emphasized his hope that the event would serve as a means to upgrade and provide a new platform, new opportunities and new models for the youth philanthropic initiatives.
