Zhang Jiming attends closing ceremony of the 8th China-Africa Youth Festival

On May 26, the closing ceremony of the 8th China-Africa Youth Festival was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang province. Zhang Xuewei, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; and Zhang Jiming, Secretary-General of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), delivered speeches. Zhu Chonglie, Secretary of the Jinhua Municipal Party Committee; Zhao Xiyuan, Minister Counselor of the African Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Jiang Yunliang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Normal University; and Gu Jianxin, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, also attended the closing ceremony. 

The event was presided over by Gu Jianxin. More than 200 representatives, including 64 African youths and Chinese youths from 52 African member countries of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, took part in the event. 

In his speech, Zhang Jiming stated that the Chinese people and the African people have always been good friends, good brothers, and good partners. Currently, achieving common prosperity between China and Africa and jointly building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future will bring them even closer together. Through joint efforts in various aspects, the China-Africa Youth Grand Gala has become an important platform for promoting friendship between China and Africa. The Foundation will continue to work with friends from all walks of life to promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people friendship, making more efforts for a better future for the China-Africa community with a shared destiny. He hopes that young people from China and Africa will remain confident, forge ahead with determination, inherit and promote the traditional friendship between China and Africa, contribute youthful energy to the development and revitalization of their respective countries, and help advance the modernization of China and Africa together. 

Wang Dongge, Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat for Economic Affairs and Youth Employment Placement in the Republic of the Congo and Saqio, Director of the Youth Research Institute of Guinea-Bissau, spoke as representatives of African youth. Wang Heng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the African Studies Institute at Zhejiang Normal University, spoke as a representative of Chinese youth. 

The China-Africa Youth Festival is a mechanism within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The 8th China-Africa Youth Festival was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, and the People's Government of Zhejiang province, and took place from May 19 to May 26 in Beijing and Jinhua, Zhejiang province.
