

The 2019 "Soong Ching Ling Cup" China-ASEAN Teenage Soccer Competition took place on Aug 3.
The event was co-organized by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), the Chinese Football Association, and the China-ASEAN Center.
Nearly 150 young players from countries like China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Singapore took part in the event, which this year boasted more foreign participants than any previous event.

On the evening of Aug 2, Jing Dunquan, vice-chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, met with representatives from a number of counties and extended them a warm welcome.
He said that the event was designed to improve soccer skills among young people from China and ASEAN countries, strengthen mutual understanding between teenagers from different countries, and promote people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.

On the morning of Aug 3, the event opened with a match between China and Singapore. By the end of the day, China, Thailand, and Vietnam emerged victorious in their matches, while the Philippines and Malaysia played level.

The 2019 "Soong Ching Ling Cup" China-ASEAN Teenager Soccer Friendship Competition won support from the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government of Yuhang district in Hangzhou, the Zhejiang Soccer Association, the Zhejiang Green City Soccer Club, and Kaijie (Zhejiang) Sports Development Ltd.
During the players' stay in Hangzhou, they also had an opportunity to sample the city's delicacies and visit the Liangzhu historical culture site.
Background
The "Soong Ching Ling Cup" China-ASEAN Teenage Soccer Competition was co-sponsored by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, the China-ASEAN Center, and the Chinese Football Association. It is aimed at teaching foreign teenagers about China and promoting Chinese culture.
This is the fourth time the event has been held since 2016.
