The 2019 Reid Cup International Youth Badminton Friendly Competition concluded in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Aug 1.
The event was sponsored by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and the All-China Sports Federation, and was organized by the government of Chengdu and the Chinese Badminton Association.
Tang Jiuhong, deputy secretary-general of CSCLF, Chen Xingdong, deputy director of the Sichuan Sports Bureau, Chuthaporn Voelker, consul of Thailand's consulate-general in Chengdu, and Chengdu government officials attended the event's closing ceremony.

Twelve teams from nine countries including China, South Korea, Mongolia, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, France, Germany, and Uzbekistan participated in the three-day competition. The Chinese national team emerged victorious with the Thai team securing second place and the Chengu team earning third place.

Liu Yun, an internationally-renowned judge who will serve as a judge for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, was invited to serve as chief referee for the event.

The organizing committee of the 2019 Reid Cup International Youth Badminton Friendly Competition also hosted a banquet for the children and invited some craftsmen to help them learn about traditional Chinese culture, such as sugar man-making and face changing.
Near the end of the banquet, everybody joined together to celebrate the birthdays of two children.

After the banquet, all participants went on a two-day trip to Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan scenic spot to learn more about the unique Bashu (Sichuan) culture, which has a history of 3,000 years. They also got a close look at some pandas at the Panda Paradise.
