A delegation led by Jing Dunquan, vice-chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), visited Dongping county, Shandong province, form July 23 to 25 to learn about local work being done to address poverty and left-behind children.
The delegation also met with representatives from the local government, education authorities, the local civil affairs authority, and Dongyuan Experimental School.

On the afternoon of July 23, the delegation visited Sungang Primary School, where CSCLF helped establish a music room and the Children's Home.
The delegation learned about the school's education techniques and its 77 left-behind children.
They also discussed with representatives of the school how to use the Children's Home and music room to help the left-behind children.

On July 24, the delegation visited local left-behind children's families in several villages. Jing asked about their current living conditions and encouraged them to study hard.
He also promised that CSCLF would organize more philanthropic activities to help these left-behind children.

On July 25, the delegation discussed with representatives from the local government issues related to poverty and left-behind children. Government officials reported on the living conditions of left-behind children and recounted challenges they had faced while trying to help them.
Jing pledged to try to help solve the problems specified by the officials.
Song Jian, deputy director of the Fund Department of CSCLF, and Cheng Peng, deputy mayor of Dongping county, also participated in the discussions.
