He Houhua, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with a delegation led by Yu Qun, vice-chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) in Macao, on June 24.
Yu sent CSCLF Chairman Wang Jiarui's regards to He and thanked him for his long-term support for the fund.
Yu said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macao's handover to China.
CSCLF has a long history of relations with Macao, and has conducted cooperation with many organizations and institutions there, such as the Macao Foundation, in an effort to improve the wellbeing of the people.
He said that Macao, as a Chinese special administrative region, has a responsibility to get involved in the national development initiative.
He supported building a cultural exchange center to promote traditional Chinese culture and develop patriotism among Macao residents.
He praised the cooperation between CSCLF and the Macao Foundation, and hoped that Macao communities would build long-term partnerships with CSCLF to promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
A number of CSCLF trustees attended the meeting.
