CSCLF chairman attends 6th World Internet Conference

Wang Jiarui, chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Internet Conference and delivered speeches at the Protection of Minors Online and Governance of Internet Ecology Forum, as well as the Cross-Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Internet Development Forum, which were held in Wuzhen in Zhejiang province on Oct 20.

The Cross-Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Internet Development Forum

The 2019 Cross-Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Internet Development Forum was sponsored by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, the Economic Daily, the Want Want China Times Media Corporation, Phoenix TV of Hong Kong and the Macao Internet Culture Association, and was co-organized by Taiwan's Commercial Times. The Cross-Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Internet Development Forum, which has been held for five consecutive years, has now developed into an important link connecting the economies and societies of the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.

In his speech, CSCLF Chairman Wang Jiarui fully affirmed the increasing influence and appeal of the forum, emphasizing that the two sides of the Straits, Hong Kong and Macao are connected with the same roots and blood and could never be separated.

Meeting with Omar Abdi, executive deputy director of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund

During the conference, Wang Jiarui met with a delegation led by UNICEF Executive Deputy Director Omar Abdi. The two sides reviewed the results of past cooperation and looked ahead to carrying out closer cooperation and further advancing the cause of children to create a better future for them.

This will be facilitated by starting with activities soon to be jointly held by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, the China Welfare Institute and UNICEF in Shanghai: namely the 2019 Soong Ching Ling Children's Development International Forum and the Lighting Children's Future activity at the World Children's Day.

On the afternoon of the Oct 20, Wang Jiarui also met with Ren Yuxin, chief operating officer of Chinese technology company Tencent. Wang stressed that the two sides should pay attention to the protection of minors and the participation in network ecological management. Closer cooperation between the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and Tencent should be promoted -- using technology to help young people grow healthily and contributing to building a clear network space and creating a digital future.

Hang Yuanxiang, executive vice chairman of CSCLF and Yu Qun, vice-chairman of CSCLF accompanied the above activities.
