Wang Jiarui said that this year marked the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and that current Sino-French relations had maintained a good momentum of development. The heads of the two states had reached a new important consensus on the development of bilateral relations, he said. The exchanges during visits this year had moved the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France to a new level.

France plays an important role in the international arena and has similar views with China in many major international issues -- such as advocating globalization, diversification and multilateralism, as well as promoting free trade and coping with climate change.

Over the years, the French National Assembly has played an important and positive role in promoting the development of Sino-French relations. The China Soong Ching Ling Foundation is willing to strengthen its cooperation with relevant French institutions, implement important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote Sino-French friendship and cultural exchanges, in the hope of making greater contributions to consolidating the foundation of bilateral relations.

Hugues Renson conveyed a warm welcome to Chairman Wang Jiarui during his visit to the French National Assembly -- expressing his pleasure at receiving Wang on the occasion of President Macron's successful visit to China.

Hugues said that France and China have a long and profound friendly and cooperative relationship. The relationship between the two countries was a treasure worthy of our cherished. He said bilateral relations should further develop, to further develop EU-China cooperation on the basis of good relations between France and China. Hugues said the French side is willing to work with China to jointly safeguard multilateralism and work to establish and maintain a new international order that is more dynamic and respectful, and to jointly meet new global challenges. The French National Assembly is willing to play a more active role in promoting the long-term healthy development of French-Chinese relations, he added.

During the visit, the CSCLF delegation was also invited to visit the Foundation Charles de Gaulle and listened to a briefing introduction of the foundation. The two sides discussed further the promotion of friendly cooperation and the promotion of Sino-French non-governmental exchanges.
