Henan Soong Ching Ling Foundation was found in December 1992. In the past 15 years, the foundation, carrying forward Soong Ching Ling's unfinished work and upholding her banner has made remarkable achievements in strengthening international friendship, promoting people-to-people exchanges across Taiwan Straits and developing children's welfare and other undertakings.
Giving prominence to poverty alleviation through educational aid, the foundation has assisted the construction of 42 primary schools in poor villages and sponsored 50,000 children who dropped out of school due to poverty. More than 500,000 children, including handicapped children from 100 schools, have received several hundreds of thousands of pieces of donated materials such as chairs, desks, computers, hearing aids, books, sports facilities, clothing, quilts, sheets, food, and health care products, with a total value of RMB25 million Yuan. These donations have greatly improved the schools' conditions and educational environment in the rural areas. Therefore all the students have felt that they have been greatly cared of and part of the entire society.
Extensively in contact with people from home and abroad who are enthusiastic about social welfare and charity and fully integrating social resources, the foundation has done a great deal in promoting international relations, strengthening cross-strait exchanges and caring for children and the poor. With the remarkable social influence and favorable reputation, the foundation was conferred the honor of "National Model Nongovernmental Organization" by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China.
