Ma Lixi, an official in Wuhan's civil affairs bureau, told a reporter on Wednesday that the financial assistance comes from the public welfare lottery funds. Any children in the families entitled to basic living allowances could receive the benefits if they graduate from high school this year and are accepted as college students.
The eligible recipients should apply for the allowance before three deadlines including August 20, September 1 and mid September, Ma added.
The report noted that there are 107,000 urban families and 47,000 rural families entitled to basic living allowances in Wuhan.
