Supported by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and hosted by McDonalds (China) Corporation, the 3rd McDonalds Charity Running Activity was launched in Beijing Garden Expo on August 20, 2016. Wu Wei, Vice President of McDonalds (China) Corporation attended the event with famous athletes Bao Chunlai and Zheng Haixia.
The running activity starts.
Over 40,000 children and their parents from 19 cities would participate in the nationwide charity running activity to support Ronald McDonald House charity program. After the activity in Beijing concluded, the running activity would be launched in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Nanjing.
All the donation money collected and part of the registration fees would be used in the daily operation of Hunan Ronald McDonald House, and construction of other Ronald McDonald Houses, providing a "Home Away from Home" for families taking children to receive medical treatment outside hometown.
Background Information: The Ronald McDonald House aims to provide a "Home Away from Home" or free temporary accommodation near hospitals for families taking children to receive medical treatment outside hometown. The first Ronald McDonald House in the Chinese Mainland was launched in Hunan in January, 2016. It's just 5 minutes' walk from Hunan Provincial Children's Hospital. It covers over 1200 square meters with 17 guest rooms with toilet, a public kitchen, a dining area, a laundry, a gaming area, air-purifying disinfectors and 24-hour security guard. By the end of the first half of this year, Hunan Ronald McDonald House has provided free accommodation of 1579 nights for 48 families, receiving good social feedbacks.
