CSCLF and Uniqlo donated 35,000 pieces of winter clothes worth RMB 7 million to 7,000 poverty-stricken families in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan province on Jan. 18, 2017. As the Chinese New Year approached, the welfare program certainly brought a lot of warmth and blessings to the local people.
This donation is part of the three-year-long cooperation between CSCLF and Uniqlo, which intends to provide clothes and other support to impoverished people living in remote areas and children who suffer from diseases in a more targeted way to diminish poverty and improve their living environment at the root. Other activities include the recycle and re-use of old clothes and first-hand experience of working or shopping at Uniqlo stores.
At the donation ceremony, CSCLF Vice Chairman Jing Dunquan mentioned that the activity did not only bring warmth to the people, but also hope.
CSCLF has endeavored in establishing a long-term mechanism in Yunnan province to help the region with a variety of welfare programs, such as building campuses and hospitals for women and children, providing training to grassroots medical staff, and helping children with disadvantages in poverty.
