The ninth China Charity Fair was held virtually from Nov. 23 to 25. The China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) displayed its achievements in contributing to rural vitalization, promoting youth exchanges in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and facilitating youth development programs. As an important part of the exhibition, the GBA Youth Charity Annual Meeting and supporting projects were unveiled in the fair's online exhibition hall.

Youth participate in charity auctions

"Young Charity Auctioneers" is a special fund project of the Guangdong Youth Development Foundation, recommended for inclusion in the supporting public welfare projects of the 2021 annual meeting by the Guangdong CSCLF. By offering opportunities for young people to participate in charity auctions, the project aims to improve the younger generation's volunteer spirit and build their teamwork.

The exhibition displayed highlights of "Young Charity Auctioneers" projects such as inclusive activities for children with autism; auctions of locally made goods with left-behind children in rural areas to revitalize the villages; and four foreign children who grew up in China and donated money raised during the auction from the sale of their artworks to help children in need in Wuhan.

Learning Chinese culture with handwriting and drawing contests

The gold, silver and bronze award winners in the "Golden Pen Award" handwriting contest for primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong were exhibited at the China Charity Fair. Having received nearly 18,000 entries from more than 200 schools in Hong Kong, the contest enabled Hong Kong's youth to learn more about Chinese culture.

During the exhibition, the awarded works from the "Wynn Cup - Macao Primary School Student National Education Drawing Competition" were also on display. The program, launched in 2016, aims to strengthen primary school students in Macao's understanding of the country and enhance their drawing skills and artistic sensibilities.

International Youth Image Competition in GBA

The First Greater Bay Area Youth (Traditional Culture) Image International Competition was also included as a public welfare project for the 2021 annual meeting. In collaboration with youth clubs across the GBA, the organizer encouraged young people both at home and abroad to learn about the cultures in the South of Five Ridges, record short videos, take photos, and create wonderful works that spread the legacy of China's brilliant civilizations. Many entries were displayed in the online exhibition hall.

Charity projects for the wellbeing of GBA youth

As one of the co-organizers of the annual meeting, the Guangdong CSCLF selected public welfare projects, for which they created a photo and video display at the charity fair.

The exhibited projects included the "Little Ear Elf" project which provides high-quality medical services for children with microtia; the "Coco Smile" project which assists babies with cleft lips and palates; and a fraternity fund committed to public welfare assistance for education in the eastern and western mountainous areas of Guangdong province.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Charity Annual Meeting was successfully held in Zhongshan city, Guangdong province, and Shenzhen in 2020 and 2021 respectively. During the annual meeting, there was a folklore photography exhibition between mainland and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, GBA baseball and softball invitational tournaments and other activities, boosting youth exchanges in the Great Bay Area.
