The Eighth Cross-Straits Charity Forum was held in the city of Xiamen on 19 September. The Forum was held by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) in collaboration with eight organizations from the Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. More than 150 representatives from 106 public welfare organizations, universities, media and businesses on both sides of the Straits attended the Forum in person or online.
Yu Qun, Vice Chairman of CSCLF, attended and addressed the Opening Ceremony. Yu Qun pointed out that public welfare undertakings are crucial to improving the well-being of the people, promoting social harmony and nurturing love and friendship among people. Cross-Straits Charity Forum is an important platform for cross-straits communication and cooperation in public welfare undertakings with the vision of benefiting people on both sides of the Straits. He also expressed his wishes that this year's forum will accelerate the process of bringing the agreed measures into action to promote cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, and get more people across the Straits to devote themselves to the cause of charity as well as to the improvement of cross-Straits relations and the welfare of people from both sides. It is hoped that young people from both sides could exchange ideas with and inspire each other on the Sub-Forum on Entrepreneurship and Employment for their own career development and for a brighter future of Cross-Straits relations.
Guo Xiangying, Vice Director-General of the Chinese Culture Promotion Association in Taiwan, said that the mainland and Taiwan can collaborate in public welfare undertakings to enhance mutual understanding and exchange, and facilitate the realization of our shared goals.
Wu Jianfang, Vice Secretary General of Hong Kong Volunteer federation (HKVF), pointed out that public welfare undertakings could improve people's well-being and help to provide solutions to social issues. She also wished the Forum a great success.

Peng Feng, Vice Secretary-General of China Internet Development Foundation (CIDF) giving a speech on promoting public welfare undertakings with the Internet.
The Forum, with the theme of "Keeping to the Original Aspiration, Working Together for the Wellbeing of All", also held two sub-forums focusing on cross-straits exchange and cooperation in charity and entrepreneurship and employment for youth. Representatives of charity organizations, youths, experts and scholars carried out in-depth discussion and communication.
