发布时间:2016-12-09 16:10

Invited by China Tide Foundation, an exchange group of 30 young volunteers from the Chinese Mainland paid a visit to Taiwan from November 12 to 21, 2016, with the organization from China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF). This trip was a return visit for the Taiwan youth exchange program in summer and winter vacations. All the volunteers, who came from Renmin University of China, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), China University of Political Science and Law and others, had hosted the Taiwan students earlier this year.

The exchange group visited many Taiwan universities. During their stay in National University of Kaohsiung, the group attended a lecture named “Media literacy and citizen participation” by Professor Hong Shengfei along with their Taiwanese counterparts. While during their visit to National Taichung University of Science and Technology, Professor Yuan Helin, who was also a cross-Strait relationship research scholar, made a lecture on the cross-Strait relationship about its past, present and future. Students showed great passion to this lesson and actively shared their volunteer experience.

During the visit in National Chung Hsing University, the exchange group attended the opening ceremony of “Treasures of the Silk Road - Dunhuang Culture & Art Exhibition”, which was co-sponsored by CSCLF, Dunhuang Academy and Taiwan Sheen Chuen-chi Cultural & Educational Foundation.

"One-on-one" activity was an important element of this exchange. The “one-on-one” partners had known each other earlier in the Mainland and now they met again in Taiwan, which gave them a cherishable opportunity to welcome and host each other. By this means, the young students could learn about Taiwan in different aspects and from the grass-roots level. Young people from the Mainland and Taiwan expressed great appreciation for this program and they have forged profound friendship through deep and harmonious communication.

One-on-one trip in Taipei

CSCLF together with China Tide Foundation organized the “one-on-one” exchange activity for young students across the straits since 2007, which had became an important platform for the youth to know each other better, stimulate each other and enrich their lives. It is learned that related commemorative activities will be held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the activity in 2017.
