The 8th Council of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) convened its first executive meeting at the Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling on January 27. Li Bin, vice chairwoman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and CSCLF chairwoman, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

A memorial service was staged before the meeting to mark the 129th anniversary of the birth of Soong Ching Ling. Li laid a flower basket at the statue of Soong and led other council members in bowing to show their respect for the late Honorary President of the People's Republic of China.

Li pointed out that the meeting was convened to memorialize Soong's contribution to the cause of world peace and human progress, implement the spirit of the 8th council meeting of CSCLF and discuss major initiatives that will advance the foundation's high-quality development in the new era.

She emphasized that CSCLF should closely follow General Secretary Xi Jinping's instruction regarding the foundation's work and its focus on the theme of the times, and carefully study speeches delivered by top political advisor Wang Yang and Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee You Quan at the 8th council meeting of CSCLF, pushing its work to a new level. The foundation shall uphold and strengthen the Party's overall leadership and take the 40th anniversary of the founding of CSCLF as an opportunity to carry forward the noble spirit of Soong. As the 20th National Congress of the CPC is due to convene in late 2022, CSCLF shall make it an important political task to prepare for its opening and study its spirit throughout the year. The chairwoman also noted that the foundation shall continue its efforts to deepen international people-to-people exchanges, expand communications between the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and improve the management of its funds and charity projects. She also urged the foundation to create platforms and expand channels for council members to fully contribute their wisdom to the new development of CSCLF and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The meeting deliberated the rules regulating the work of CSCLF's executive council and the foundation's major tasks in 2022.

Vice Chairmen Long Mingbiao, Wang Ning, Hang Yuanxiang, Jing Dunquan, Yu Qun and Ding Jie, as well as Deputy Secretary Generals of Wu Dianwu and Li Anjin and other council members, attended the meeting.
