8th council meeting of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation held in Beijing

The eighth council meeting of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) was held in Beijing on Dec. 22. All agendas were completed and the new leadership of the CSCLF was elected.

In the past five years, the CSCLF has made contributions to boosting international friendship, deepening exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, and promoting the welfare of children and teenagers, Wang Jiarui, chairman of CSCLF's seventh council, said during his opening address. He added that with the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), CSCLF's eighth council will continue to march forward and pen a more glorious chapter during its new journey towards achieving the second centenary goal.

The meeting deliberated and approved the Work Report of the Seventh Council of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, the Fund Management Work Report of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (2016-2020) and the Articles of Association of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (Amendment).

Meanwhile, new council members were also elected, with Li Bin being named chairwoman of the eighth council of the CSCLF, and Long Mingbiao, Wang Ning, Hang Yuanxiang, Li Huidong, Xie Feng, Yu Yanhong, Jing Dunquan, Yu Qun and Ding Jie elected vice chairmen of the council.

Li Bin delivered a speech after being elected. She noted that the eighth council meeting was held in an important year, as it coincides with the CPC centenary.

Li said that the CSCLF will conscientiously implement the requirements made by Wang Yang and You Quan, continue to promote the development of the foundation in the new era and make new contributions that serve the overall work of the Party and country.

On behalf of the new standing council of the CSCLF, Li expressed respect and heartfelt gratitude to the chairman, vice chairmen and all members of the seventh council who have contributed to the advancement of the foundation.

She said that the CSCLF will adhere to the purpose of the foundation, follow its articles and take solid steps in advancing all the agendas put forth.

First, the CSCLF will keep pace with the times and integrate its work into the overall vision of the Party and the country, so as to contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Second, the CSCLF will boldly take on its responsibilities. The foundation is named for Soong Ching Ling, a respected leader of China who dedicated her life to promoting international friendship, deepening exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, promoting the welfare of children and teenagers, and advancing charity. The CSCLF will embody the foundation's founding principles while fulfilling its new mission in the new era.

Third, the CSCLF will forge ahead with a pioneering spirit. Guided by the new development concept, the foundation will further innovate its working methods, build up its comprehensive strength, and leverage the unique advantages and role it has as a public welfare organization.

Fourth, the CSCLF will give full play to the governing role of the council. The platform for members of the council to participate in the work of the foundation will be further improved and council members' suggestions will be valued.

Li Bin stressed that the CSCLF will rally more closely around the Party Central Committee, implement the decisions and requirements of the Party Central Committee, and perform the duties and tasks of the foundation, so as to make greater contributions to achieving the goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects, and one that's ready to greet the convocation of the 20th CPC National Congress with great achievements.

The meeting was presided over by Zheng Jianbang, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee and vice chairman of CSCLF's seventh council.
