CSCLF delegation visits UK and Ireland

  A delegation led by Yu Qun, vice-chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), visited the UK and Ireland from June 30 to July 7.

  The delegation was invited by the UK Council for International Education, AstraZeneca, Asia Matters in Ireland, and the University of Dublin. The visit was an attempt to increase international exchanges and partnerships.

  During the visit, Yu met with Nick Stace, chief executive officer of the Prince Charles Foundation, Rebecca Martin, global vice-president of AstraZeneca, Garez Bullock, president of the YK Council for International Education, and Alan Dukes, chairman of Asia Matters, and discussed the work the various organizations were doing to increase international cooperation, as well as the possibility of strengthening cooperation in international exchanges between teenagers.

  The CSCLF delegation also watched the International STEM Youth Innovation Competition hosted by the UK Council for International Education. Yu met with the teams taking part in the competition and sent his regards to the six Chinese teams.

  The delegation also visited the University of Cambridge, the Perse School, and the Nord Anglia School to learn about their education systems.

  Yu also talked with scholars from the Cambridge Judge Business School and the University of Dublin about how to promote a healthy spirit among teenagers.

  The delegation also visited China's embassies in the UK and Ireland and met with Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the UK, and He Xiangdong, Chinese ambassador to Ireland. They discussed strengthening people-to-people exchanges between China, the UK, and Ireland.

  Yang Hua, deputy director of the International Department of CSCLF, and Su Hongtao, deputy director of the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People, were part of the CSCLF delegation.
