2019 Soong Ching Ling Children's Development International Forum was held on 21 November in Shanghai. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Shanghai, and organized by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), China Welfare Institute and UNICEF Office for China. It is one of the series of activities celebrating World Children's Day and the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Wang Jiarui, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Wang Zhixiong, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Zhu Zhiwen, Vice Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Former Vice Minister of Education and Vice Chairman of CPPCC Subcommittee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports, Jiang Liang, Vice Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Yu Qun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairperson of CSCLF, Zhang Xiaomin, Vice Chairman, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and General-Secretary of China Welfare Institute, Yu Weiyue, Vice Director of the Department of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education, Liu Qi, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Women's Federation, and Cynthia McCaffrey, UNICEF Representative to China, attended the Opening Ceremony.
During the two-day forum, international and Chinese experts shared their ideas around the theme of "equality, quality and integration" at 2 keynote sessions, 5 thematic sessions, 1 roundtable discussion and 4 parallel panels. Issues being touched upon include new pathways to give the most precious to children, methods to improve pre-school education and approaches to building open and diverse platforms for international exchanges and so on.
