China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), China Welfare Institute and UNICEF Office for China jointly held World Children's Day "Light Up Children's Future" Theme Event on 20 November in Shanghai Tower. The event aims to provide an entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children's rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for children.
World Children's Day was first established by UNCEF as Universal Children's Day. It is celebrated each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improve children's welfare.
Wang Jiarui, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Zhao Wen, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Jiang Liang, Vice Chairman of the 12th Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and Vice Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Yu Qun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairperson of CSCLF, Zhang Xiaomin, Vice Chairman, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and General-Secretary of China Welfare Institute, Cynthia McCaffrey, UNICEF Representative to China, Ma Yili, Special Envoy of UNICEF, and more than 200 children attended the event.
At the end of the event, leaders, guests and representatives of children lit up the blue lights together with the wish of lighting up children's future.
