CSCLF chairman meets with former Japanese prime minister

  Wang Jiarui, chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), met with a delegation led by Yukio Hatoyama, former Japanese prime minister, and Ohmura Hideaki, magistrate of Aichi-ken in Japan, at the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People on May 13.

  During the meeting, Wang recounted his previous exchanges with Yukio Hatoyama and Ohmura Hideaki. Wang said that China-Japan relations were developing steadily.

  As this year is Chinese-Japanese Teenager Exchange Promotion Year, CSCLF wanted to strengthen cooperation with Japanese communities to promote cultural exchanges between the two sides, Wang continued.

  He also said that Aichi-ken plays a leading role in Japanese industry and technology, and contributed much to the development of relations between the two countries.

  The chairman expressed hope that CSCLF would further cooperate with Aichi-ken in regional exchanges.

  Hatoyama thanked Wang for organizing the meeting, and expressed hope that CSCLF would contribute to exchanges between Aichi-ken and China. He also said that the Japanese Yuai Association would continue to strengthen cooperation with CSCLF.

  Ohmura Hideaki said that CSCLF has long been devoted to developing teenagers' scientific research abilities, and that Aichi-ken would like to carry out scientific research exchanges between teenagers from both countries.

  He also said that Nagoya in Aichi-ken would host the 20th Asian Games in 2026, hoping the games would serve as a platform for teenagers to carry out exchanges.

  After the meeting, the Japanese delegation visited the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People. Hang Yuanxiang, executive vice-chairman of CSCLF, Chen Aimin, director of the International Department of CSCLF, Yang Hua, deputy director of aforementioned department, and Su Hongtao, deputy director of the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People, attended the meeting.
